The 2023 Sugar Beet Recommended List sees the addition of nine new varieties whilst four varieties have been withdrawn from the list. The list for 2023 offers growers a broad selection of both proven and reliable varieties whilst offering a good range of new varieties and traits.

However, it should be noted that differences in yield of less than 2.5% should be treated with reserve, so looking at value for money also becomes very important in variety choice.

The 3 new Strube varieties for 2023 are:

• MORGAN
• STEWART
• BUTTON

All are proven and reliable varieties. STEWART and BUTTON are suited to earlier drilling. BUTTON is also a BCN tolerant variety with high establishment and exceptionally low bolting in both normal and early drilling situations. BUTTON has the lowest bolting figures out of the four BCN varieties listed for 2023.
