Bayer today announced changes in the leadership team of its Crop Science division, with Kelly Gast assuming the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from Michael A. Schulz, effective April 1, 2022. Schulz had been CFO for the Crop Science division for over a decade and decided to leave Bayer for personal reasons after 16 years with the company. Gast is currently CFO for Bayer’s U.S. organization.
“Kelly has tremendous experience in finance and a true passion for the agricultural sector. She will play a key role in driving our performance and business transformation,” said Rodrigo Santos, Member of the Board of Bayer AG and President of the company’s Crop Science division. “We would like to thank Michael for his many years of service to Bayer, and in particular to Crop Science, where he will leave a lasting legacy both in terms of a strong finance team and a very well positioned Crop Science business.”
Separately, Sara Boettiger, SVP, Head of Global Sustainability & Public Affairs, shared her wish to leave the organization. During her time with Bayer she has made significant contributions to the Crop Science division by driving sustainability and public affairs agendas.
Bayer will take this opportunity to further embed sustainability and public engagement at the heart of its Crop Science divisional roadmap by combining the sustainability and public affairs teams with the strategy team, under the leadership of Frank Terhorst, EVP, Strategy & Sustainability, effective March 1, 2022.

Bayer verändert das Führungsteam der Division Crop Science. Kelly Gast wird zum 1. April 2022 die Position des Finanzvorstands von Michael A. Schulz übernehmen. Schulz, seit über zehn Jahren Finanzvorstand bei Bayer Crop Science, hat beschlossen, das Unternehmen nach 16 Jahren aus persönlichen Gründen zu verlassen. Die US-Amerikanerin Gast ist aktuell Finanzvorstand der USA-Organisation von Bayer.
„Kelly Gast verfügt über enorme Erfahrung im Finanzbereich und engagiert sich mit Leidenschaft für die Landwirtschaft. Sie wird für den Erfolg und die Transformation unseres Geschäfts eine zentrale Rolle spielen“, sagt Rodrigo Santos, Mitglied im Vorstand der Bayer AG und Leiter der Division Crop Science. „Wir möchten uns bei Michael Schulz für seine jahrelange gute Arbeit bei Bayer und vor allem bei Crop Science bedanken. Zu seinen Verdiensten zählen unter anderem der Aufbau eines starken Finanz-Teams und ein sehr gut aufgestelltes Crop-Science-Geschäft.“
Darüber hinaus hat Sara Boettiger, Leiterin Global Sustainability & Public Affairs bei Crop Science, den Wunsch geäußert, Bayer zu verlassen. Sie hat in ihrer Rolle signifikant dazu beigetragen, die Nachhaltigkeitsagenda der Division Crop Science voranzubringen.
Bayer nutzt diese Veränderungen, um das Thema Nachhaltigkeit noch stärker im Zentrum seines Crop-Science-Geschäfts zu verankern. Daher wurden die Teams für Nachhaltigkeit und Public Affairs zum 1. März 2022 mit dem Strategie-Team zusammengelegt. Die Führung übernimmt Frank Terhorst, Leiter Strategy & Sustainability.
„Unser Ziel ist, für die Landwirtschaft eine nachhaltige Zukunft zu schaffen, von der sowohl unsere Kunden als auch die Gesellschaft profitieren.
