University of California, Davis' Venture Catalyst partners with AgStart

UC Davis Venture Catalyst and AgStart have established a collaboration agreement to integrate the new Lab@AgStart facility as a member of the Distributed Research Incubation & Venture Engine (DRIVE™) Network. The DRIVE Network provides university-associated innovators and startups with facilitated access to a network of thematically oriented business incubators offering work space, lab space, and equipment.
AgStart recently announced the opening of the 4,800 square foot Lab@AgStart facility located in downtown Woodland. The facility contains a 2,500 square foot Biosafety Level 1 wet chemistry lab space outfitted with shared equipment and instrumentation and 28 benches for dedicated use. In addition, the incubator includes a separate certified food facility with kitchen and food preparation equipment as well as coworking and meeting spaces for tenants. The $1.5 million project represents a unique public-private partnership, including support from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, State of California’s iBank, County of Yolo and City of Woodland, as well as private contributions from the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, Raley’s, First Northern Bank, Bayer, Syngenta and many others.
