Update from U.S. Food and Drug Administration regarding Nuseed Omega-3 Canola application

Australia
April 14, 2021

Nufarm notes the announcement from the U.S. FDA advising that it expects to complete food safety consultations regarding Nuseed’s omega-3 canola seed in the coming weeks. The FDA also advised that it has no questions about the safety of Nuseed omega-3 canola when inadvertently present in the human and animal food supply at low levels. The FDA post was a positive response to industry notification of a recent low level presence (LLP) of omega-3 traits.

Nuseed Omega-3 canola has the potential to significantly expand the world’s supply of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, an essential nutrient for human health, without depleting ocean resources. It is currently grown in a closed loop production system in the United States in accordance with deregulation approval by the USDA and Excellence Through Stewardship principles. It has also been approved for cultivation, food and feed use in Australia and Canada.
