Delegates from Shouguang, Shandong Province visit TYLCV-resisitant tomato varieties of Shanghai Zhon

Delegates including professional growers and persons in charge of nursery farms from Shouguang, Shandong Province led by Plant Protection Expert, Ms. Liu Tianying, of Bureau of Vegetable, Shouguang City, Shandong Province visited Shanghai Zhongdu on 16th Nov 2009, to view and emulate tomato varieties with resistance to TYLCV disease.
In recent years, TYLCV has become one of the most serious diseases of tomato crop all over the whole country. And the situation becomes worse and worse every year, that causes much lost to farmers and tomato production of China. To select and develop new varieties with great resistance to this disease is the only way to solve the problem and avoid more lost happens.
We have worked on this project since 2006 by introducing, selecting and other ways to find 11 varieties with high resistance ability to TYLCV. All the 11 varieties are planted and demonstrated in agricultural park of Shanghai Zhongdu now, raised wide concern of the industry. Delegates from Shouguang were interested in these very much, looking forward to have sample seeds and test them in Shandong.
After visit to the demonstration field, all the delegates had a discussion meeting with Zhongdu Seeds. Two parties reached a consensus that Shouguang, as the leading vegetable planting area and sales market, should introduce super varieties to growers and ensure the quality of products. And Zhongdu Seeds would like to spare no efforts to join hands with Shouguang, striving for improvement of products quality and development of the vegetable industry as well.
