myKWS, the digital solution for farmers, has received the 2020 iF Design Award in the category Service Design. The award recognizes exceptional design efforts in a broad array of disciplines, including such areas as interior design, packaging and services. myKWS combines more than 20 different applications with expert advice to offer farmers around the world decision-making assistance supported by data so they can achieve an ideal harvest. In making their decision, the international jury drew attention to the online portal’s integrated approach as well as its customer-focused configuration and streamlined user interface.
Users enter myKWS from their own individual start pages. They provide a summary of all appropriate information and services for the particular time of year – fully tailor-made to the farming operation. In addition, many of the online portal’s functions start directly from an overview map of the farming operation. From here, farmers can get a quick look at their cropland and the cultivation management approach that applies. Many of the applications use supplemental data such as satellite images or future-oriented algorithms to ideally adjust the time for sowing and harvesting at the inter-field level to adapt to environmental conditions and improve crop management practices. The online portal also provides key profitability figures and computation programs for planning the most fitting crop rotation and for managing varieties.
“Sustainable farming must ensure the sufficient supply of high-quality, nutritious food while using the least amount of such resources as crop protection, water, nutrients and land,” states Stephan Krings, who heads global marketing and communication at KWS. “In the process, digital technologies that generates added value are increasingly gaining importance and helping to, among other things, boost agricultural yields and avoid crop losses. myKWS focuses on farmers’ needs and offers a comprehensive service package covering the complete growing season. It is individually directed according to the specifics of the farming operation – and that makes the platform exceptional. We’re really happy that the iF Design Award has now substantiated this approach in terms of configuration and user friendliness.”

For 67 years, the iF DESIGN AWARD has been a renowned international prize that recognizes exceptional design. The world’s oldest independent design institution, International Forum Design GmbH, bestows the award annually. The award recognizes design efforts in all disciplines: Product, packaging, communication and service design; architecture and interior design; and professional concept. The award ceremony will take place on May 4, 2020, in Berlin.

Das digitale Angebot für Landwirte „myKWS“ wird mit dem iF Design Award 2020 in der Kategorie „Service Design“ ausgezeichnet. Mit dem Preis werden besondere Gestaltungsleistungen in unterschiedlichsten Disziplinen, wie z. Bsp. Innenarchitektur, Verpackung oder Dienstleistung, ausgezeichnet. „myKWS“ vereint mehr als 20 unterschiedliche Anwendungen und Expertenberatung und bietet Landwirten weltweit datengestützte Entscheidungshilfe für eine bestmögliche Ernte. Die internationale Jury hob den ganzheitlichen Ansatz sowie die kundenzentrierte Ausgestaltung und einfache Nutzerführung hervor.
Den Ausgangspunkt in „myKWS“ bildet die persönliche Startseite des Kunden. Diese gibt einen Überblick über alle in der jeweiligen Phase des Jahres passenden Informationen und Services – ganz auf den Betrieb zugeschnitten. Viele Funktionen starten zudem direkt aus einer Übersichtskarte des Betriebes. Hier erhalten Landwirte einen schnellen Blick über die Ackerflächen und das jeweilige Anbaumanagement. Eine Vielzahl der Anwendungen nutzt ergänzende Daten, wie zum Beispiel Satellitenbilder oder zukunftsgerichtete Algorithmen, um teilschlagbezogen den Zeitpunkt für Aussaat und Ernte bestmöglich an die Umgebungsbedingungen anzupassen und die Bestandsführung zu optimieren. Auch werden wirtschaftliche Kennzahlen und Berechnungsprogramme rund um die Planung der richtigen Fruchtfolge und das Kulturartenmanagement bereitgestellt.
„Eine zukunftsfähige Landwirtschaft muss die ausreichende Versorgung mit qualitativ hochwertiger Nahrung bei gleichzeitig möglichst geringem Ressourceneinsatz, wie z. Bsp. Pflanzenschutzmittel, Wasser, Nährstoffe oder auch Fläche, sicherstellen,“ erklärt Stephan Krings, Leiter globales Marketing & Kommunikation bei KWS, „Mehrwertstiftende, digitale Technologien gewinnen dabei mehr und mehr an Bedeutung. Sie helfen unter anderem, den Ertrag für landwirtschaftliche Flächen zu steigern und Ernteverluste zu vermeiden. ‚myKWS‘ stellt die Bedürfnisse der Landwirte in den Mittelpunkt und bietet ein übergreifendes Servicepaket über die komplette Anbausaison. Dieses wird ganz individuell auf die Spezifika des Betriebes ausgesteuert – das macht die Plattform einzigartig.
