UC Davis Plant Breeding Academy (PBA) is a premium professional certificate program offered in USA, Europe and Africa. To date, more than 350 breeders from over 60 countries have attended the UC Davis PBA, making it the most significant program of its kind.
The program is finding great recognition among seed companies. More than 75% of UC Davis Plant Breeding Academy participants from private industry came from organizations that have repeatedly sent students to the program, which is the ultimate measure of employer satisfaction.
Last survey of UC Davis PBA graduates showed that the program has a significant impact on both the employer and the graduate-employee.
Ninety-three percent (93%) of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that they have become more productive employees in their respective organizations; 82% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that the complexity of their tasks and duties have increased as a result of PBA training; 79% of the respondents agreed or strongly agreed that PBA contributed to a positive career changes in terms of promotion and salary.
UC Davis PBA is a postgraduate program that teaches the fundamentals of plant breeding, genetics and statistics through lectures, discussion, and field trips to public and private breeding programs. The 2020 class core curriculum will maintain the upgrades from the previous classes and add modules to address the most recent development in plant breeding theory and practice.
