High ranking Ethiopian delegation visits Hazera headquarter

Israel
October 6, 2019

Hazera hosted a distinguished delegation of Ethiopian government officials specializing in agriculture on Wednesday, September 25th. The tour of the Hazera site was one of the highlights of the delegation’s almost month-long visit to Israel in September, initiated by the Mashav International Training Center on Agriculture (MATC). The high-level delegation was comprised of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Sanny Reddy Ahmed, the Director General of the Agriculture ministries for the states of Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, and SNNPR, as well as USAID’s representative in Ethiopia and the President of the Ethiopian Growers and Exporters Association.

The visit was carefully planned and began with a morning gathering and a variety of interesting presentations: presentation about the company by Amit Einav, the Deputy CEO; presentation of products by Yaron Giras, Global Tomato Product Manager; presentation about the production activity by Doron Yonay, the Production Manager; and a presentation focusing on Hazera’s activities in Africa in general, and Ethiopia in particular, presented by Jawdat Badawieh, Hazera’s Commercial Director in Africa. The delegation then took a tour of the quality control laboratories, which included the germination laboratory, during which they were accompanied by Efrat Makovitzki, the Laboratory Manager. The delegation also toured the Hazera’s R&D greenhouses, accompanied by the Operational Agronomist David Hamburger. In conclusion, and to leave them with a wonderful taste, guests from Ethiopia visited the company’s Taste Experience Center, where they were able to experience the wide variety of Hazera tomatoes – in a variety of sizes, colors and flavors – and they definitely enjoyed the wonderful flavors.

We believe that the visit has contributed greatly to the promotion of agriculture and hope to continue fruitful cooperation in this area between the countries.
