Rice growers in the EU will soon have access to game-changing weed control products that will help improve both yield and quality of the crop. The approval of the Rinskor™ Active substance (florpyrauxifen-benzyl) was formally published in the EU official journal at the start of this month, with the legislation set to enter into force on 24 July, 2019.
Corteva Agriscience™ is committed to providing farmers with a toolbox of solutions to manage various challenges, including difficult to control weeds in rice. The EU approval of Rinskor™ will provide a new mode of action to control these weeds at low use rates and with a very favorable environmental footprint, helping rice farmers grow a better crop to be more profitable.
Rinskor™ is an innovative, broad-spectrum weed control for use in all rice cropping systems on grasses, sedges and broadleaf weeds, helping keep fields clean even when weeds are resistant to existing solutions. It boasts a favorable eco-toxicological and environmental profile, corresponding with societal EU demand for crop protection products with a reduced environment footprint.
Thomas Lyall, Regulatory and Stewardship Leader, EMEA, at Corteva Agriscience said: “Our regulatory experts have worked tirelessly to help deliver Rinskor™ to EU rice growers by meeting the stringent EU regulatory standards. “The EU now joins the other significant agricultural-producing countries around the world who have approved Rinskor™, including China, USA and Brazil. This approval maintains the excellent momentum in gaining approvals for Rinskor™ around the world.”
In 2018, Rinskor™ won the American Chemical Society’s Green Chemistry Challenge Award and the AGROW Award for best new crop protection product.
