From Monday, October 1st 2018, Mr Mark Culloden becomes the new Managing Director of Strube UK Ltd. About Strube UK’s New Managing Director
Born in Yorkshire and living next door to a farm, Mark became interested in agriculture from a very early age. Having spent most of his weekends and school holidays helping and working on different farms, when the time came, Mark chose to study Agriculture at Harper Adams University. After qualifying, he initially took the role of an Assistant Farm Manager in North Yorkshire, but in February 1986, Mark joined British Sugar as a Graduate Trainee at Newark Sugar Factory.
After a few years as a Factory Fieldsman, Mark went to work for British Sugar in Poland, advising growers on western agronomy techniques. Upon his return to the UK, he took up the position of Agricultural Operations Manager at the York Sugar factory for a few years, followed by a brief spell at Peterborough Head Office managing the Co-Products business. Mark then moved across to the West Midlands, taking up the position of Agricultural Manager for both the Allscott and Kidderminster factories.
Following success in this role, Mark progressed to become Agricultural Business Manager at British Sugar’s flagship factory at Wissington, near Downham Market in Norfolk. In addition, he also managed the new Central Tarehouse operation, then recently installed at the site.
In 2010, Mark became Head of Agricultural Operations for British Sugar, managing the four factory business units within the UK. Over the past 3 years, Mark has been Head of Agriculture based at the Bury St Edmunds factory. This position included the management of the UK’s £25 million National Sugar Beet seed account. In his most recent role Mark developed a greater interest and understanding of the European Seed Business, resulting in him taking up the position of Managing Director of Strube UK Ltd in October 2018. Mark is BASIS and FACTS qualified, as well as holding a NEBOSH safety qualification.
Mark is married with 2 grown up children. He is a keen skier and a self-confessed ‘petrol head’, enjoying all forms of motorsport, especially Formula 1.
