Special organic route at Rijk Zwaan Demo Days
The Netherlands
September 18, 2018
This year’s Rijk Zwaan Demo Days in Fijnaart started on Monday 17 September. Over the next six weeks, visitors can see and touch a large number of new and existing varieties for themselves. This year, there is extra focus on Rijk Zwaan’s assortment of varieties suitable for organic vegetable production. Visitors can go on a personalised guided tour and receive optimal advice about the possibilities of the organic range.
Development of new organic varieties
“The demand for organic vegetables continues to rise, which is why we at Rijk Zwaan are putting a lot of effort into developing new varieties that are suitable for organic production,” says Heleen Bos, Specialist Organics at Rijk Zwaan. “We are highlighting our organic and non-treated varieties during the Demo Days, making it easy for visitors to follow the ‘organic route’ through the field. Our specialists are also on hand to talk to visitors and provide them with tailored advice and technical support.”
Broad organic range
Rijk Zwaan’s broad range of organic varieties includes lettuce, spinach, various brassicas, endive, courgette and radish. Along the organic route at the Demo Days, visitors can also see organic versions of lettuce varieties featuring Knox™, which won the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award in 2017, and the one-cut-ready lettuce concept called Salanova®.
