This year KeyGene celebrates its 25th anniversary, a milestone of which we are very proud! It started in June 1989 with 6 employees focusing on the generation of genetic markers with the help of KeyGene’s invention: the AFLP® technology. At that time, no one had the idea that AFLP would be so important for the future of KeyGene. The first AFLP® publication dates from 1993 and has achieved a citation index of 6800 in 2014. With the AFLP® technology DNA fingerprinting, and thereby KeyGene, obtained a solid base in the world of Marker-Assisted Breeding.
Nowadays KeyGene has 135 employees with expertise in molecular genetic innovations in plants. By combining the knowledge and expertise of molecular biologists, traits specialists, bio-informaticians and systems biologists we support our clients with their crop and breeding questions.
All in all, enough reasons to celebrate this important milestone! On June 19th KeyGene will offer a special program for its customers and business relations. We will be presenting and showcasing our latest innovative products and there will be ample time for networking.
We want to thank all our clients and relations for their trust and cooperation in the previous 25 years and hope we can expand this in the coming (25) years.
KeyGene was founded in 1989 by a number of Dutch seed companies.
