Biotech continues to cultivate court cases

Recent court cases raised questions about the patentability of oak trees and DNA molecules, about the size of a damages award for infringing a patent for research purposes, and about constraints on technology contracts that prevent farmers from planting saved seeds. Two cases concerned the practice of growing genetically engineered (GE) crops on public land.
