Field Sales Representative

Role Purpose

A sales representative acts as an ambassador for the seed company. They are the face of the company at the local level. They are very familiar with the company’s products and how they perform locally. They attend local meetings and know the key influencers in the area. They enjoy working with people and manage a group of seed distributors in the area.

Typical Work Activities

  • Meet regularly with dealers and customers
  • Study company products and attend product training sessions
  • Recruit dealers to fill territory gaps
  • Lead sales launch meetings in the territory
  • Work with the regional sales agronomists to provide high level training to the dealers
  • Become familiar with competitor products and programs
  • Conduct regular dealer meeting to inform dealers and recognize, reward and motivate performance

Educational Requirements

  • Training in agronomy, preferably at the B.S. level
  • Sales training

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Three or more ag experience including agronomy, crop production and seed sales
  • Demonstrated experience in dealer management, including recruitment

Marketing Coordinator

Role Purpose

Coordinating a uniform, consistent message and brand worldwide, in both internal and public communications.

Typical Work Activities

  • The creation of marketing and promotional materials such as product technical brochures, mailers newsletters and press releases including print, web and social media
  • The continued development and maintenance of the company website, adding content and planning enhancements
  • Market products by assisting in the development and implementation of Marketing, promotional and advertising campaigns
  • Coordinating events such as trade shows, industry meetings and field days
  • Manage promotional materials inventory, source and develop new items.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, self-motivated and creative
  • Candidate must be able to work and deliver under tight deadlines both independently and as part of team.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in Marketing related field.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills including technical writing.

Product Manager

Role Purpose

Oversee all aspects of managing the companies portfolio of varieties for a given species or group of species.

This critical job acts in a quarter back fashion to ensure that the various departments are working together to support the development, production, forecasting, marketing and inventory of seed varieties offered to the customer. This includes understanding product life cycles and correctly forecasting up and down trends in a product demand and attrition.

Typical Work Activities

  • Manage the product range within each respective geographical location: collaboration with the the sales and development departments in terms of market positioning and new product launches.
  • Pro-actively monitors commercialized products.
  • Coordinate research and development activities of new varieties in collaboration with research, supply-chain, logistics, development and sales departments, as well as internal and external distribution channels.
  • Effectively lead the crop teams (research, development, production and sales)
  • Provide support to the local sales and development teams, in particular during new product launches.
  • Supervise sales forecast and constitution of buffer stocks.
  • Oversee the innovation process, both in terms of products and processes. Development of the business-chain for designed species.

Educational Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Agronomy or equivalent
  • Marketing or finance diploma or equivalent experience

Market Research Analyst

Role Purpose

Helps the company build an accurate understanding of the major market trends for traits and varieties. This information is used to direct research in areas of highest future potential, help to direct marketing efforts for the companies products, accurately forecast current and future production needs, and establish optimum distribution and customer targets.

Typical Work Activities

  • Analyzing market data by customers, products, crops and competitors, and serve as a point of contact for other parties involved in the strategic planning process
  • Support the Strategic Marketing Managers to ensure an accurate understanding of the trends in crops and traits.
  • Gather and analyze data from a variety of public and internal sources to assist in market research projects. 
  • Deliver accurate information in a timely fashion to business, project management and legal teams
  • Monitor trait partners' industry trend and participate in research projects as needed
  • Remain current with reviews of select industry trade journals and periodicals to enhance industry knowledge and understanding
  • Work with crop strategy managers to design and administer methodologically correct surveys and report on survey results that will fulfill business needs

Marketing Communication Manager

Role Purpose

Provide strong leadership for internal and external communications, promotional and advertisement activities and events as well as public relations activities related to all aspects of the seed business.

Typical Work Activities

  • Support the Product Marketing team with the development and execution of promotions & media plans and campaigns; including program launch activities, trade shows, advertising, and packaging as well as photography and copywriting.
  • Work closely with the Product Marketing Team to optimize ad and promotional activity resources; provide guidance and challenge proposals to reach best result.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues from other businesses in NAFTA and globally to achieve synergies, ensure business alignment, and present a unified brand to customers, stakeholders, and employees.
  • Manage outside vendors and ensure the relationships are efficient and cost-effective.
  • Explore use of novel communication technologies to maximize internal and external communication efficiency and outreach. e.g. social media
  • Manage and govern the “look and feel” of the company web sites based on global standards and branding direction.

National Sales Manager

Role Purpose

Responsible for business results within a wide geographic area. Manages Account Managers and Area Agronomists by facilitating access to resources, providing input to sales campaigns and sales strategy

Typical Work Activities

  • Responsible for creation of business plan for area, execution of approved plan and tracking of the following operational indexes: revenue and margin, market share, penetration, concentration, retention, cross-sell of product lines, and biotechnology mix
  • Develop area strategic and tactical plans that align with company goals and polices.

Role Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Marketing Manager is to lead the seed business unit to develop and implement strategies for increasing business in existing and future markets and achieve targeted growth rates.

Agronomic Trials Manager

Role Purpose

Design and manage all aspects of local agronomy and technology field expo and training demonstrations, working closely with Area Agronomist, Research Center, and Supply Management plant personnel

Typical Work Activities

  • Develop protocols for Area and Business Unit (BU) studies.
  • Work with Account Manager and Sales Rep to access test environments and grower cooperators with capability to address trial objectives
  • Source and prepare seed and other materials for field studies
  • Secure planting, spraying, and harvest equipment with grower cooperators and Research collaborators
  • Ensure that treatments are applied and data is collected according to protocols
  • Conduct field observations and collect images from trials for use in presentations
  • Analyze, interpret, and develop appropriate summary reports and presentations for local studies
  • Present agronomy research and information at local field days, tours, and meetings as the knowledge expert of local and BU agronomy trials

Educational Requirements

  • Field-research based Masters degree or PhD degree preferred

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Strong technical and practical knowledge of new crop management systems technology including factors which influence decisions by producers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental, regulatory and product stewardship issues
    Working knowledge of all aspects of field experimentation (regulated sites, small plot, large field trials)
  • Capable of statistical analysis and graphical presentation for simple factorial trials
  • Understanding of yield monitors, mapping systems, and spatial data.
