Agricultural Research Institute, Bahawal pur, Pakistan do research on Bread wheat botanical name is Triticum aestum, Classification into spring or winter wheat is common and traditionally refers to the season during which the crop is grown. Spring wheat, as the name implies, is usually planted in the spring (can be sown in autumn in countries like Pakistan that experience mild winters) and matures during summer. There are different diseases attacks on wheat crop because of yield losses. But stem rust (Ug99) attack and cause 100% yield losses. Stem rust permanently controlled by genetic barriers, resistance take up by inter specific or inter generic crosses. Resistance can be taking up by gene in high productive varieties through conventional and non conventional breeding approaches with the help of morphological and molecular markers, Gene tagging and Genetic engineering. There are some wheat varieties (Lasani-2008, AARI-2011, 8173) which resist the stem rust disease. These varities developed through conventional breeding.
