According to the USDA, California is by far the leading producer of processing tomatoes in the United States, accounting for 96 percent of U.S. output.

In ”Processing Tomato Production: California Practices”, Gene Miyao, Extension Farm Advisor at the University of California, informs practitioners of the general production practices of California processing tomato growers, particularly in the Sacramento Valley.
