Greenspire Global, the company behind Procidic, says a post-harvest application of Procidic is a great option to fight against Goss's Wilt.
The company's research has shown Goss's Wilt can remain within the field on infected stalk residues and trash. Similarly, the disease also increases the activity of other ailments such as Fusarium. Procidic should be used as a post-harvest application, sprayed over the stalks remaining on top of the field, to sanitize no-till corn stalks. Using Procidic to disinfect the field after harvest can provide an early start on next year's preventive program. An application rate of 4 ounces per 15 gallons of water per acre is recommended.
Greenspire Global highly recommends that growers follow up during next planting season with an in-furrow application. Using two ounces per acre of Procidic during sowing can help prevent the emergence of Goss's Wilt—working systemically, Procidic boosts plant health and disease defense. This management practice provides a great economic benefit to growers, the company says.
Of course, Procidic should then become part of the grower's regular preventive spraying practice. Greenspire says using Procidic at least on or before V5 stage (and follow up before the stage of tasseling) is the most effective and economical method. Procidic is an EPA-approved broad spectrum bactericide and fungicide to stop bacterial and fungal diseases on crops, when used as recommended.
