Plants of all kinds spring to life after a rain or disturbance, but how does one go about identifying what role it plays on the range and how to manage it?
On Dec. 1, the final presentation in a series of webinars offered by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service’s ecosystem science and management unit will be “Online Resources for Plant ID and Management.”
The program will be presented by Dr. Megan Dominguez, AgriLife Extension range specialist in Corpus Christi. The webinars are offered from noon to 1 p.m. every first Thursday of the month. This webinar, as well as others in the series, can be accessed at http://naturalresourcewebinars.tamu.edu/.
This webinar qualifies for one general pesticide license continuing education unit, according to Dominguez.
With so many options available, it is important to understand where to go to easily identify plant species and find information about rangeland, such as the Rangeland Plants of Texas Database and the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Natural Resource Conservation Service Web Soil Survey, Dominguez said.
This webinar will also cover PESTMAN, a free, web-based decision support system that assists rangeland managers in making economically beneficial brush and weed management decisions, she said.
