MyRainScout.com launches new website

Atlanta, Indiana, USA
May 12, 2011

MyRainScout.com is a revolutionary service enabling farmers to capture daily rainfall amounts for as many fields as they choose, delivered directly to their email. The new MyRainScout.com website gives farmers the ability to purchase their own field locations with the use of a credit card.

“MyRainScout.com is a powerful management tool that will increase profitability and productivity on farmers operations,” said Sonny Beck, president of Beck’s Hybrids. “This cutting-edge technology provides farmers site-specific rainfall information without the use of expensive equipment on the ground.”

Beck’s Hybrids is the exclusive provider of MyRainScout.com, serving growers in Indiana, Illinois and Iowa, as well as parts of Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Kentucky. Using patent-pending technology that includes Doppler radar data and proprietary algorithms, combined with a farmer’s field GPS coordinates, MyRainScout.com records the precise amount of rainfall for a given location. The rainfall data from each of the farmer’s selected locations is sent to their email address each morning, enabling them to make better farm management decisions.

“We acquired MyRainScout.com in the middle of April, and in a particularly wet spring, this technology has been a great agronomic tool for our operation,” said Alan Kemper, farmer and Beck’s Hybrids dealer in Lafayette, Ind. “After a heavy rain in early May, we easily identified the rainfall amounts for all of our fields. Because of MyRainScout, we were able to plant in a field 30 miles away that received less rain than our home farm.”

With the purchase of MyRainScout.com, farmers can receive a daily and monthly report, listing the rainfall which occurred each day for each location with a summarized total for the month. A report will only be sent when more than a 0.1” rain event occurs at any of the farmer’s sites, within the 24-hour monitoring period of their choice, and will be delivered within 2.5 hours after the monitoring period ends.

“Now, I don’t have to drive to the 160 acre field, 40 miles away to check the rain gauge,” said Jack Martin, farmer and Beck’s Hybrids dealer in Macomb, Ill. “Not only does it save me time, but it’s going to be a great record-keeping tool to document long-term rainfall amounts.”
