Sakata Vegetables Europe presents at Fruit Logistica

Europe
February 26, 2016

For the second consecutive year, SAKATA VEGETABLES EUROPE was present at Fruit Logistica exhibition from Wednesday 3rd to Friday 5th February. Fruit Logistica had 2891 exhibitors from 84 countries and represented a complete market overview of the fresh produce industry and attracted over 70,000 trade visitors from over 130 countries.

SAKATA Vegetables Europe promoted 5 different crops:

  1. Melon Piel de Sapo : Sakata has developed a unique range of melon Piel de Sapo: exceptional combination of fantastic shelf life that facilitates long distance logistics, with high sugar, perfect flesh, firmness and outstanding flavour.
  2. Pink tomatoes : With our Japanese origin we keep taste/flavour as our main “motto”, we have dedicated a website Majestar to introduce our range of high value tomatoes. Currently we are breeding close to the main growing areas to fulfil market needs but we are keeping our first priority on fruit quality in terms of taste.
  3. Butternut : SAKATA is setting new standards in the world of butternuts, This exciting range meets all the requirements of dierent market segments perfectly. The success of these varieties is based on high yield, internal quality, uniformity of size and shape.
  4. Cauliflower : Dedicated cauliflower breeding teams are completely focused on market realities and continue to create innovation to anticipate and build the future. Efficiency is our priority, so we select cultivars under different growing conditions throughout the world, to only provide reliable products.
  5. BIMI®, meaning “great tasting” in Japanese, is a natural cross between broccoli and Chinese kale. It looks like broccoli but with a long slender stem and has a milder, sweeter taste more like asparagus. It is 100% edible – from the tip of the florets to the end of the stem. It has been described as a “Super Food” due to its high levels of glucosinolates.

During the 3 days, we promoted Bimi by cooking on the stand and we did some tasting to all visitors, as well as our sweet melon Piel de Sapo which was very well appreciate by all visitors.
