Sakata Seed's Bimi Baby broccoli celebrates street food culture at Museum of Food & Drink’s “Street Food City” Exhibition in New York City

Brooklyn, New York, USA
November 25, 2025

Global sponsor of the World Food Photography Awards joins MOFAD in celebrating the art and culture of street cuisine and highlights the global storytelling power of food.

Bimi® Baby Broccoli, the original baby broccoli and global sponsor of the World Food Photography Awards, will have a brand presence at the Museum of Food and Drink’s highly anticipated exhibition Street Food City, opening to the public December 6, 2025 at MOFAD’s DUMBO location (55 Water Street). The exhibition will be open Thursday through Sunday, 12–6 pm, and tickets are available now at mofad.org/buy-tickets.

Street Food City celebrates the entrepreneurs, recipes, and cultural stories that make New York’s street food scene one of the most diverse in the world. As part of the exhibition experience, MOFAD will feature a curated selection of images from the World Food Photography Awards, showcasing street food storytelling from around the globe.

For the first time in New York, these award-winning images will be installed throughout Empire Stores at 55 Water Street, where MOFAD is based. This offers visitors a rare opportunity to view these celebrated works in person.

As a headline global sponsor of the World Food Photography Awards, Bimi®’s presence at MOFAD reflects the brand’s commitment to supporting culinary creativity, both in professional kitchens and in the cultural documentation of food as art. The WFPA also includes the James Beard Foundation photography category, a category celebrating images of the people behind America’s food culture. Bimi® also sponsored this year’s James Beard Foundation Awards event, further strengthening its connection to leading culinary voices.

“Bimi® Baby Broccoli is pleased to be represented alongside the World Food Photography Awards at this culturally important exhibition that celebrates the vibrant and diverse street food scene in New York City,” said Michelle Glover, Brand Development Lead for Bimi®. “It is meaningful to see food photography, and the farmers, vendors, cooks, and storytellers behind the images, honored with this level of visibility,” she added.

Bimi® Baby Broccoli, known around the world as the original baby broccoli, is a proprietary variety developed by Sakata Seed as a natural cross between Chinese kale and broccoli, a process that took 10 years to perfect. With tender stems, a sweeter flavor, and zero-waste usability from floret to tip, Bimi® offers elevated taste, premium quality, easy preparation, versatility and year-round availability.

Launched into the U.S. market this April, the brand has quickly gained traction and is now carried in Acme, Costco Canada, Fresh Thyme, Safeway, Sam’s Club, and Sprouts, reinforcing strong consumer demand for better-tasting produce.

The brand’s culinary ambassador, James Beard–nominated Chef Thai Dang, and newly appointed World Food Photography Awards judge, continues to help showcase Bimi® Baby Broccoli’s versatility across global cuisines and menu formats.
