Pakistan Seed Council approves 18 new seeds varieties of various crops


Lahore, Pakistan

Eighteen new seed varieties of various general cultivation crops including ARRI-10 ( wheat) CPF-246 ( sugarcane) ad Basmati-515 (rice) were approved by PSC during 40th meeting of PSC on Jan 13, 2011.

The provisional approval for the cultivation of four Bt cotton verities including IR-1524, F4-113, approval for the Ali AKber-802 and Neelam-121 were also extended for one year.

The other approved verities are MMRI yellow, Pearl, FH-810 Hybrid and Yousafwala Hybrid of maize, Chakwal Masoor & Mash Arooj of pulses, Hybrid LITTH-514 & Line-07001 of Tomato, Ravi of Melon, S-2005 of Millet, F-9917 of Sorghum, Rye Grass-1 of Grass, Super Late Faisalabad of Barseem clover and 2-KCG-020 of Groundnut.

These all approved varieties have more potential to resist diseases and high yield.
