United Kingdom - Maltsters' buying intentions for 2017
United Kingdom
February 6, 2017
Maltsters intend to purchase 1.9Mt barley from the 2017 crop in England and Scotland, according to a recent report from the Maltsters Association of Great Britain (MAGB).
There is little change in the buying intentions compared with 2016, other than a slight shift in balance in South England in favour of spring barley.
However, the biggest change is in the presentation of the purchasing requirements this year, which have been simplified into three nitrogen bands – under 1.65% for pot distilling; between 1.66% and 1.85% for brewing; and above 1.85% for grain distilling.
The full purchasing intentions can be seen on the MAGB website.
