Australia - An important note from Cotton Seed Distributors on planting seed supply
Australia
September 2, 2016
There are good water volumes in the southern dams and big inflows happening (and about to happen) in the more northern areas. Cotton prices are reasonable and there are fallow fields which resemble wet rice paddies in some areas.
All this is indicating that we will have not only a big area of irrigated crop, but also potentially a substantial dryland area ahead of us for this season.
Seed orders have been coming in from our agents, and we have been in touch with them regularly recommending that they follow up with growers to ensure that their seed orders are placed, as there is potentially a 4 to 6 week timeframe from order to supply.
Moving forward from now, the varieties and seed treatments that will be available to growers will start to become more limited.
Given the current rainfall event and inflows, we strongly urge all growers to contact their preferred CSD Agent soonest (if they have not done so already) to place their seed orders now to ensure that CSD can supply planting seed in a timely manner.
