The Position

• To lead the activities and requirements of pathology lab. It involves planning, guiding and responsibility for execution of disease screening for fungal, bacterial and viral diseases of primarily vegetable crops and also field crops.
• The ideal candidate should have held a responsible position with experience in pathology in an institution preferably private. Emphasis in the company will be on development of disease resistant crop varieties. 

Key functions: 

• Organizing and conducting plant pathology screens and pathogen characterization
• Establishing and standardizing screening protocols that would help the breeder screen lines and segregating material. Close coordination with breeders in designing tests to develop disease resistant varieties will be key responsibility.  
• Managing and leading the established seed health lab.
• Interacting with breeders and molecular biology scientists on phenotyping and innovative methods.
• Ability to run experiments on ELISA and other recent techniques
• To oversee maintenance and identification of viral, bacterial and fungal cultures.
• Data collection and reporting on experiments conducted
• Conversant with data storing, retrieval, making regular reports and presentations wherever required.
• Managing existing lab, growth chamber, equipments and greenhouse facilities and making sure safety protocols are adhered to.

Qualification

• M.Sc (Ag) specialisation in Plant Pathology
• At least 5 years of relevant experience
• Experience as a Team Leader in pathology in a private industry and working independently will be added advantages 

Desirable

• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with other team members including breeders
• Participation in collaborative projects with other institutions
