Chile – Technical Salesperson

Location: Chile

VoloAgri Global Corporate Headquarters are in South San Francisco, California with our principal Operational Centers in San Luis Obispo, California and Naaldwijk, The Netherlands. Additional facilities are located in Mexico, Turkey and Lebanon; and 15 trial stations are spread throughout California, Florida, Idaho, Mexico, Brazil, Lebanon, Turkey, China, Thailand, Holland, Italy and Spain. Our prized collection of seeds have been developed under several brands including US Agriseeds, Axia, Greenport Seeds, California Hybrids, Catalyst Seeds, and New World Seeds.

Position: Chile – Technical Salesperson
Reporting to: Central/South America Sales

Job Description Summary:

Based out of Chile, the Technical Salesperson will be responsible for the Product Development and Sales for Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, with potential to assist other South American countries. Strengthening the relationship with current distributors and creating new business.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Meet or exceed the South American annual sales budget.
  • Meet or exceed average gross margins set by management.
  • Review and update forecasts on a regular basis to anticipate seed production needs ensuring adequate availability to meet the needs of our customer’s demand.
  • Accurately forecast expense budgets.
  • Strategically place trials with growers in the region to introduce the VoloAgri product line.
  • Provide service, support and product training to the dealer sales reps in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador and occasionally travel and assist other South American countries.
  • Support dealers and growers in the region with technical information to assist in their decision making process.
  • Participate in the trialing and advancement of new product lines at the VoloAgri Research Station in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico and Woodland, California, USA.
  • Provide regional market information as requested.
  • Develop existing sales through Dealer network
  • Develop sales through Wholesale & Direct Sales Accounts
  • Accurately forecast sales for my area which aids in production planning
  • Monitor South American Pricing strategy of the competition
  • Work with PD & Samples department to develop our samples program to meet the needs of South America
  • Communicate the needs of South American Dealers
  • Monitor all sample requests to ensure dealers are getting what they ask for
  • Promote VoloAgri Products throughout South America
  • Product trials – Visit all trials with dealers and/or growers
  • Field Days – attend field days with dealers and growers
  • Technical Reports – make sure dealers have all marketing material including technical report on all our products
  • Work with marketing to ensure we are maximizing our branding in South America.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have a background working with agricultural business
  • The ideal candidate will have worked in a growth company & understands how to scale
  • Extensive use of Microsoft Office products including Excel
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and flexible with work schedule
  • Extensive knowledge on product development and trial work

Skills and Personal Traits:

  • Strong team player, self-starter, creative, positive “can do” attitude and high integrity
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) for effective vendor & internal staff communication
  • Works well under deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail, drives tasks to closure efficiently with error-free end result

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related field.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in the Agriculture seed industry.
