Job Profile:

The candidate will be responsible for heading a well developed fully functional ISTA accredited Seed Quality lab. He will be responsible for upgrading and implementing new technologies across species of hybrid vegetable crops, flower seeds and field crops. He should be capable of coordinating the activities in seed processing, warehouse and packing.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Ph.D in Seed Technology or related fields with a strong background in seed physiology.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in quality control lab preferably with exposure to seed industry and management systems.
• Ability to adjust to a fast paced environment.
• Organizational leadership experience spanning across multiple sites
• Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational and negotiating skills
• Demonstrable experience leveraging external and internal relationships and networks
• Strong result orientation and self motivation
• Knowledge on quality tests in vegetable, flower, tree seed and field crops.
• Knowledge of seed coating and seed enhancement technologies.
• Capability to access information, development and implementation of new technologies in seed quality assessment
• Ability to manage and motivate a team of trained technicians carrying out standard quality tests. Knowledge on techniques in molecular biology will be an advantage.
• Sufficient knowledge in field activities namely planning, execution in field seed production.
• Planning, supervision and implementation of grow out tests.
• Should possess basic understanding of concerned issues and capability to take decisions and solve problems.
• Knowledge of various seed processing operations and maintaining storage conditions for different crops.
• Exposure to seed certification and standards in field crops, especially cotton and rice.
• Knowledge of ISTA testing and quality documentation.
• Coordinating with other departments including seed production, research and marketing.
