Assistant Cucurbit Breeder

Job summary
Responsible for supporting cucurbit breeding programs aimed at development of new hybrids for VoloAgri’s global markets. Assistant Cucurbit Breeder will be reporting to the Global R&D Director-CC for research and Director R&D Mexico for administrative matters. Interacting with breeding teams at research and trial stations in Mexico.
Responsibilities
- Management and support to all components of cucurbit breeding programs at Culiacan station including sowing, transplanting, pollination, data recording, harvesting-processing-shipping of seed. Development of elite inbred lines and hybrids.
- Identify new market opportunities and update cucurbit breeders.
- Implement the R&D strategy at research station.
- Establish good rapport with sales and product development teams.
- Supervise Ag Engineers, train and manage seasonal field helpers.
- Travel domestically and internationally.
Qualifications
- MS in Agriculture with with 3+ years of experience or BS with 5-6 years of experience in cucurbit breeding.
- Knowledge of marker technology, phytopathology, plant physiology, crop management.
- Ability to speak English
- Good written and verbal communication skills,
- Works well within a team environment.
- Ability to work in range of working conditions
- Command of MS office and statistical softwares.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
