Post Harvest Researcher

Location: San Juan Bautista, California, USA

Enza Zaden in San Juan Bautista, California is looking for a highly motivated research professional to join our team.
Post-Harvest Researcher
Fulltime, with at least Master’s or PhD level

What are you going to do?

Using innovation and entrepreneurship, you will have ultimate responsibility for establishing and conducting research in the post-harvest field (shelf life, fresh cut quality, and flavor). By developing and implementing tools, protocols and measuring parameters for testing, evaluation and improvement of breeding material on post-harvest traits, you will carry out projects yourself, in close connection with the breeding and sales departments. You will obtain a deep knowledge of the post-harvest chain in lettuce, onion, pepper, brassica and processing tomato. You will strengthen the international cooperation on post-harvest research within Enza Zaden as well as strengthen contacts with external universities and institutes. The selection procedure may include an assessment and a small part of the introduction period will be spent at our head office in the Netherlands.

You will report to the Sr. Researcher, Biochemistry.

Your power

You are a dynamic person who takes initiative, recognizes opportunities and has a creative, analytical and systematic method of working. You are a natural communicator and connector. You have a minimum Master’s or PhD education level with the capability of working independently and willingness to cooperate with other teams in our organization. You will have at least 3 years relevant work experience with additional knowledge of plant breeding, plant physiology, molecular biology and biochemistry. You are research minded and interested in working in the seed sector. You are skilled in managing Statistical Software, technical lab equipment and have strong project management abilities.
