Market Development Technician
Location: Plant City, Florida, USA PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Responsible for evaluating product performance to identify superior marketable products and potential exclusive products, as well as helping to identify varieties and cultural recommendations to support marketing programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plans, coordinates and implements trial plan for assigned crops in assigned territory.
- Compiles market and trial data reports for submission to PD and sales group.
- Visits breeder trials and identifies products to pursue,target,and market.
- Oversees setup and evaluates trials at Plant City, FL.
- Provides technical data including cultural and use recommendations on new products.
- Identifies market segments with sales growth potential and recommend strategies for growth.
- Coordinates and performs quality control checks on salesman trial efforts to ensure proper reporting and to assist salesman with trial evaluation as required.
- Keeps updated on seed treatments and enhancement technologies and advises on utilization.
- Assists in collecting information to resolve product performance complaints.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply. Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Normally requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Plant Science or Agriculture, or the equivalent thereof, and four years or more of vegetable crop or seed industry related work experience.
- Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Must be able to frequently travel independently and overnight.
- Must be willing to be based out of Plant City, FL area during peak trial periods.
- Must be willing to work hours beyond those considered “normal”.
- Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
