Job Description:

The Green Garlic Breeder will be responsible for the research and development of commercial varieties of green garlic.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Manage, design, develop, and implement breeding research projects to identify varieties for commercial production;
• Design, organize and conduct trial programs in target market zones. Work closely with farmers and commercial producers of garlic;
• Identify appropriate varieties and make recommendations for advancement and commercialization.
• Manage research budget and resources for the Green Garlic variety development;
• Maintain parent lines and work closely with the VoloAgri production team;
• Collaborate with other research team members of the company to exchange ideas, germplasm, data and other items to maximize performance of the team;
• Work closely with the Green Garlic Project team.

This position will report to the Director of Research & Development and the leadership team at VoloAgri.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum five years of experience with allium crops, such as garlic or onions.
• Strong background in field plot technique and agronomy.
• Experience in budget and personnel management.
• Experience with data management, statistical analysis software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work with growers and produce marketers.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Education:

• M.S. / B.S. in Crop Science and Horticulture.

Work authorization: U.S. Work Authorization

Start Date: ASAP

Position: Full time
