For its research breeding center, in Greece or Bulgaria, Golden West Seed Company is recruiting a Senior Breeder, Sunflower.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervision and implementation of the sunflower breeding activities in Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Romania, Ukraine and Russia and contribution to strategic planning.
• Trait development sunflower germplasm and parental line improvement and creation and identification of new sunflower heterotic combinations
• Interact with other sunflower breeding teams and organizations in Europe, Argentina, S. Africa to enhance the success of the Spirou breeding program.
• Production of nucleus and breeder seed and genetic purity of materials upstream in the supply chain
• Management of the above activities on target, time, and cost.

PROFILE:

• Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Agricultural Sciences with emphasis in breeding, genetics
• Extensive knowledge of sunflower and experience in the culture and production.
• Affinity with sunflower and with field work is a must
• A minimum of 5 years experience in sunflower breeding.
• Very good knowledge of computer applications
• Strong communication skills, ability to operate in the above mentioned region.

Regular travel is required.
