Risk Manager

BASF – the Chemical Company – consolidated its plant biotechnology activities in BASF Plant Science (GB) in 1998. Today, about 800 employees are working to optimize crops for more efficient agriculture, renewable raw materials and healthier nutrition. We are currently looking for a Risk Manager.
The Risk Manager is globally responsible for preventing the loss of “Freedom to Operate” by identifying and quantifying potential Quality and Compliance risks.
Objectives and activities:
- Plan, design and implement an overall risk management process for the GB organization and trait projects.
- Manage the process of identifying and assessing risks, including the description and estimation of quantitative and qualitative risks affecting the business.
- Confer with GB crop and quality managers to identify and communicate risks associated with specific crops and regions.
- Evaluate risks, including the comparison of estimated risks with risk criteria established by the GB organization.
- Manage risk treatment by selecting and implementing approved measures to control and mitigate risks, including activities to avoid and/or transfer risks.
- Develop Risk KPIs to support Management decisions.
- Develop risk reports including documentation of key risks and recommended risk mitigation actions.
- Provide support, education and training in Risk Management to GB staff.

REQUIREMENTS: - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Required:
- Bachelors, or higher level, Degree in Economics, Business Administration or Related Discipline with 5 years of professional experience.
- Exposure to, and knowledge of, risk management practices.
- Excellent communications and presentation skills to be able to inform and persuade both orally and in writing.
- Be a creative, motivated team player with an analytical mindset.
- Ability to meet goals and to attain the desired results under time pressure and in a fast changing environment.
- Ability to interact effectively across cultures.
- Ability to travel (approximately 25% of working time).
- Excellent written and verbal English skills.
Preferred:
- MS Degree in Life Science, with additional training in Risk Management preferred, with 5 years of professional experience.
- Experience in Agricultural or Agricultural Biotechnology Industry.
- Experience in Regulatory Affairs or Quality Assurance.
- Good knowledge of an additional language would be an advantage (e.g. German, Spanish, or Portuguese).
- Experience in the area of risk management including; general analytical and statistical tools, techniques and approaches of risk management.
