Senior Crop Development Manager

We are currently seeking a Development Manager to join the Development Management team within the BASF Plant Science organization. This team performs critical activities necessary to advance plant breeding and biotechnology projects from idea to marketplace as fast and effectively as possible.
The Development Manager will serve as a core team member on crop teams assessing opportunities for enhanced herbicide tolerance in sunflower, canola, and soybeans; fungal tolerance in soybeans; and nutritionally beneficial oils in Canola.
Operationally, the Manager will be responsible for designing and executing field trials to demonstrate the omega replica efficacy of genes imparting these traits, assessing their effects on agronomic performance, and providing test material for compositional analysis and trait deregulation.
Certain programs will be global in nature.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Strong role on project core teams with lead responsibilities for the field development portion of project plans.
- Design, execution and analysis of field trials targeted to test trait efficacy and stability; plan seed increases to support the trial plan.
- Functionally lead an internal and external resource base implementing trial and nursery activities.
- Planning and budgeting responsibility.
- Strong interface with BASF's Agricultural Products group in the area of herbicide tolerance.
- Implementation of a strong compliance based Stewardship program within the program area.

QUALIFICATIONS:
BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Required:
- PhD in Genetics, Breeding, Agronomy or Related Discipline with 12 years of post-graduate experience as a Practicing Breeder, Agronomist, or Geneticist involved in crop and trait development • OR • Master's/Bachelor’s degree in Genetics, Breeding, Agronomy or Related Discipline with 15 years of post-graduate experience as a Practicing Breeder, Agronomist, or Geneticist involved in crop and trait development.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and execution of nurseries, field trials and herbicide tolerance assessments.
- Must be able to speak and write in English.
- Demonstrated strength with presentation skills.
- Demonstrated experience working within a strong team oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally 20% of the time.
Preferred:
- Experience with trait development in either Canola, Sunflower, Rice or Soybeans, and familiarity with Corn as a crop.
- Experience with conducting regulated trials.
- Past conduct of GLP trials in pursuit of trait deregulation.
