JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Regional Sales Manager will be a member of the Thurston Genetics sales team within the BASF Plant Science organization. This team performs critical activities necessary to advance GB's plant breeding and biotechnology projects from idea to marketplace as fast and effectively as possible. The sales teams focus on promoting value chain coordination and the nutritional value of our products in the marketplace.
Responsiblities will include:
- Selling seed corn genetics to seed companies throughout the Upper Midwest United States.
- Presenting performance data to the seed companies.
- Organizing all sales activity within territory, which include;
- Field days.
- Seed conferences.
- Order taking.
- Distribution.
- Quality assurance activities.
- Agronomic service to the customers.
This position is part of a job family. Incumbent will be hired at a level commensurate with their knowledge, skills and abilities.
Qualifications
BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Required:
- Bachelors in Agronomy, Plant Genetics, Agriculture Business or Related Field • OR • 15 years experience in the seed business.
- Strong understanding of, and at least 8 years experience working with corn genetics, or related agronomic field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of plant biotechnology traits.
- 5 years experience in building and maintaining strong customer relationships within the corn seed industry, or related agronomic field.
- Ability to perform analytics and communicate information to customer base.
- Strong computer skills required for presentations and data analysis.
- Ability to use multiple presentation methods to effectively communicate to broad customer base.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
