JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Strategic Technical Marketing Manager will develop and maintain a comprehensive overview of the seed, trait and biotech market, trends and its development across core crops.

This position will develop and support business cases or white papers for new projects and technologies, based on new market assessments and review of competing or synergistic technologies to determine the impact and/or size of opportunity for BASF Plant Science (GB). They will support cross business growth by identifying biotech capabilities or trends that could support and grow other BASF units.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and update GB's view on seed, trait and biotech market development and trends in GB core crops.
• Identify market trends, value chain dynamics and trait developments that can create new opportunities for GB or refine and support GB's projects, business cases and sustainable development.
• Identify developing or competing technologies that could have an impact on GB's projects.
• Develop and support business cases or white papers for new product concepts or technologies impacting GB.
• Review biotech capabilities and developments to support cross unit business growth.
• Support business expert teams as defined.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Required:

• Masters with 8 years experience • OR • PhD with 5 years experience. (Education must be in Biotechnology or Related Scientific Field.)
• Marketing experience; such as market development, commercial marketing (at least 3 years worth); market segmentation and target marketing.

Preferred:

• MBA with 5 plus years marketing or business experience.
• Applied research / lab experience.
• Experience with seed and trait would be helpful.
