BASF Agricultural Solutions, located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina is headquarters for the BASF Crop Protection NAFTA Division, BASF Plant Science L.L.C, BASF Global Insecticide Research, and BASF Global Agricultural Research & Development.
BASF's Crop Protection business at BASF's facility in Research Triangle Park, NC is seeking a motivated candidate with excellent communication skills to support the Agricultural Products' global operations. As Technology Manager - Biologicals, the successful candidate will join BASF's Crop Protection Global Operations group and lead the Biologicals virtual team supporting the biological technology and operations in North and South America. The successful candidate must be adept at building bridges and networks across functions and regions to achieve operational excellence.
The position will require the successful candidate to convince others of new initiatives to further improve the technology, strategy and operations of biologicals. A quick understanding of biologicals and related operational processes would be required so that opportunities for improvement can be identified and implemented.
The function will be required to communicate globally with customers and management to ensure that a high level of customer service is achieved.
The position will report to the Director of Global Technology Biologicals, Crop Protection and will lead the technology improvements for sites in North and South America. This position works with global Biologicals team to coordinate North and South American efforts globally. The incumbent must function with a high level of independence in this role.
Responsibilities and interaction with the site leadership teams, senior management and global counterparts require extensive biological technology experience along with excellent project, leadership and communications skills. The incumbent will work with Global and Regional Operations, Marketing, and Finance/Controlling functions on value driven projects.
The position is global and works directly with colleagues in all regions. The individual will lead and coordinate globally and regionally driven projects to further improve the performance of global operations.

Primary responsibilities of the position include:
- Develop and co-implement global manufacturing strategies for products under responsibility by execution of gap analysis between demand and supply to fill gaps meeting market, quality and SHQE requirements.
- Lead projects to fill gaps by evaluation of in - and external (tolling) opportunities, potential innovations and related costs to realize required manufacturing capacities at best-in-class costs of goods.
- Prepare and implement capital projects leading (global) interdisciplinary project teams of various expertise and background to realize investments in costs and time.
- Initiate global technology exchange for products under responsibility by establishing a global exchange platform to achieve best-in-class costs of goods at all sites.
- Identify innovative solutions to improve manufacturing technology by close exchange with BASF-internal R&D experts and the external scientific community.
This role can be based in one of three BASF locations: RTP, NC; Ames, IA, or St. Joseph, MO (pending candidate preference).

REQUIREMENTS: - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Required:
- PhD in (Bio-) Chemistry/Biology, (Bio-) Chemical Engineering or Related Scientific Field with 7 plus years of experience - OR - Masters Degree in (Bio-) Chemistry/Biology, (Bio-) Chemical Engineering or Related Scientific Field with 10 plus years of experience - OR - Bachelors Degree in (Bio-) Chemistry/Biology, (Bio-) Chemical Engineering or Related Scientific Field with 12 plus years of experience.
- 5 plus years of experience in plant operations, process development and/or related functions.
- Experience with solution development by innovativeness & entrepreneurial spirit.
Preferred:
- Experience working in international teams.
- Experience with cross organizational coordination.
- Good understanding/experience for economic relations, e.g., economic feasibility studies
