Orsetti Seed Company, Inc. is seeking a brassica/lettuce breeder to be based at our Hollister headquarters location.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Requirements:

• Develop competitive varieties in major markets on a timely basis.
• Organize facilities required to develop an exceptional breeding program (people, budgets, greenhouses, equipment, contract research, etc.)
• Interact with Sales & PD to provide variety trials in various market regions introducing newly developed varieties.
• Oversee/assist in field operations as well as manage/direct and process data from an in-house laboratory.
• Remain current regarding trends in the industry and anticipate future requirements.
• Interact with Customers, Processors, and Growers.
• Attend industry-related meetings.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, to include databases and email.

Qualifications:

• PhD, Master’s or BS degree with a major in plant breeding and/or genetics or minimum 7 years plant breeding experience.
