JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Manager, Market Research is part of the Strategic Marketing team, reporting to the Manager, Strategic Marketing.

The role is responsible for developing and maintaining an understanding of the global seed & trait markets, their development and implications, to assist in business decisions and strategy development.

The role will actively monitor and analyze competitor's business and strategy developments in the relevant market place and lead market research projects to support business decision making.

Responsibilities include:
 

• Gather and analyze seed & trait market data, identify trends and developments to support the understanding of the business impact today and through the planning cycle.
• Monitor competitor/partner activities and strategy developments to identify areas of potential impact to the business and the potential implications. Maintain a competitor/partner pipeline, financial performance and strategic overview on an on-going basis for all key competitors/partners.
• Define specific market intelligence objectives and projects with business expert team to meet the needs of the overall business and projects.
• Lead market research studies and coordinate studies with external contractors. Deliver analysis and recommendations to support business decision making.
• Collaborate with other BASF market research departments to support their needs relative to the seed & trait markets, as BASF's Center of Excellence for Seed & Trait data/knowledge.
• Develop and maintain internal and external databases.

REQUIREMENTS:

BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or Marketing; MBA preferred.
• 10+ year’s market research experience.
• 5+ years of experience with direct seed and trait industry market research.
• Strong analytical, strategic and interpersonal skills.
• Highly motivated with strong self-directed capabilities.
