Global Technical Manager, Seed Treatment
Location: Alsip, Chicago, Illinois, USA Main purpose:
The purpose of this role is to oversee and liaise within Nufarm Operations on the co-ordination of the development and support services for Seed Treatment globally and facilitate the execution of the strategic growth plans for the business segment.
- Leveraging the pipeline for product, technology and seed treatment through direction and leadership across the Regions and across the key inputs required to deliver success
- Facilitating growth of Nufarm product to the regions, through identifying projects of significant value, overseeing the Project Development aspects and aligning with registration, formulation, and commercial activities within Regions, while maintaining a Global view of shared opportunities.
Principal tasks and accountabilities:
- Guide the product concept and project success of seed treatment projects. Inject harmonisation into the processes and ensure discipline on timelines and expense management is being delivered.
- Oversee the Development and launch Nufarm recipes and combinations in co-operation with Formulation staff to ensure our stated aims of differentiation, agility to market and solutions to users are being met and that our processes are being maximised for efficiencies. Drive the quality and reliability of our formulations.
- Facilitate communication and technical data access exchanges, working directly with the Global Commercial Manager for ST based in Chicago, to align with approved strategy. Have a key understanding of registration requirements across the globe.
- Advance downstream relationships, product differentiation, and support demand generation with executive level managers and Regional staff
- Interact with Nufarm global management teams and Product Manager for ST to guide R&D targets and spending for the regions.
- As a key member of ST team develop relationships with Suppliers of actives, 3rd party products and ensure compliance for harmonising global recipes is maintained
Performance Measures:
- Growth of business in the product portfolio
- Introduction of new technologies and product concepts
- Effective liaison with industry, government and regulatory bodies
- Effective transfer and input of market technical competencies, knowledge, and development of skill sets to internal staff to meet the demands of
- Customers in the specialist market segments eg Seed Cos
- Achieve agreed timelines and expense budgets for each ST Project identified and approved. Review these quarterly with recommendations
Key Relationships:
Internal-
- Nufarm ST global management team and Global ST Product Mgr
- Nufarm global development, marketing, formulation, and regulatory teams
- Nuseed R&D teams in developing market specific requirements
External-
- Government and regulatory bodies through Regional teams
- Current and potential suppliers
Experience and qualifications:
- Extensive management experience, with additional global exposure
- Masters level science degree or equivalent
- Strong understanding of seed genetics and technology eg hybrid breeding, production, and development.
- Strong understanding of the Global ST market, seed regulations, and import / export process.
- Experience with business negotiations
- Ability to work at executive management levels inside and outside the organisation to lead change in complex environments.
Competencies:
- International business savvy with experience in multi regions
- Technical competencies in plant genetics, agronomy, hybrid technology, seed production practice
- Strong level knowledge of distribution systems, channels to market, segmentation
- Experience and knowledge of registration and regulatory requirements across key markets eg USA and WE
- Knowledge of the Industry
- A demonstrated ability to work within the existing structures while being prepared to challenge and deliver on process
