Full-time position beginning Spring 2014 to coordinate drought screening project.
The position is based in Kearney, NE.

Responsibilities:
The Drought Screening Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and conducting drought screening experiments in cooperation with the company’s western corn breeding programs. Specific responsibilities include:
- Performing and/or coordinating all aspects of the Native Traits Program’s drought screening project, involving activities such as seed packaging, planting, irrigation management, data gathering, spraying, and harvesting.
- Site selection for drought screening and maintaining communication with test plot cooperators.
- Operation and maintenance of field research equipment.
- Recruiting, training and supervising part-time crews in the field and seed lab.
- Assisting in activities at the Kearney station as needed.
- Learning proprietary plant breeding software programs.
- Attending several internal or external meetings periodically throughout the year.
- Maintaining the highest level of confidentiality, customer service and professionalism that promotes a positive image of the company and the research department
Duties and responsibilities may be revised as needed by the Native Traits Genetics Manager and/or Director of Plant Breeding Technology either verbally and/or in writing.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Candidate must have B.S. or M.S. degree in Agriculture or related fields with experience in conducting small research experimental trials.
- Person must have good mechanical knowledge, ability to plan and manage multiple projects completely and accurately; attention to detail; problem solving skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills required, working knowledge of common PC based software.
Physical Requirements:
- • Ability to work required hours; ability to lift 50 lbs.; ability to work in both the field and station facility in Kearney; required 30-40 nights of overnight travel per year to test locations & winter nurseries; ability to obtain and maintain a CDL driver’s license.
