We build unique customer relationships and share products, concepts and expertise with the professional horticultural production industry and supply chain. With an extensive range of 28 crops and some 2,500 varieties, Nunhems is present in all major vegetable production areas in the world.
- Responsible for line and hybrid development for global long day onion markets according to the company Business, Marketing and R&D plan.
- Participate in Global Onion R&D Team, as a part of multidisciplinary scientific effort.
- Improve efficiency and productivity of the breeding program by optimizing use and integration of new technologies with conventional breeding techniques.
- Work closely with Marketing and Sales to align breeding goals with current and future market needs and those of our customers.
- Develop a thorough knowledge of the global onion industry to provide insight to the product development process.
- Prepare, implement and monitor specified crop budgets and operational plans.
- Manage, support and direct the breeding team personnel in alignment with Nunhems corporate values, vision and safety.
Education Required:
- PhD in Genetics / Plant Breeding related disciplines.
- Onion experience preferred but not required.
- In depth working knowledge of horticulture, agronomy, genetics, pathology, statistics, physiology and molecular genetics.
Experience and Skills Required:
- Team Player and people management
- Organization, breeding program management and planning
- Project management and budgeting
- Must be able to work independently and in complex and global multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Functional Competencies: convincing, innovation, analytical thinking, problem solving, entrepreneurship.
- Must be fluent in English.
