Sweet Corn Research Associate II

Location: Plover, Wisconsin, USA

The Sweet Corn Research Associate II is responsible for breeding, research, product development and facility activities under the direction of the Wisconsin Sweet Corn Breeder and Station Manager that support their research and facility objectives. The responsibility includes all processes of the breeding program, maintenance of the facility and equipment as well as management of temporary labor at the Wisconsin station.

The Job Description will include among other things the following responsibilities:
 

  • Seed storage, treatment and preparation for planting
  • Field activities for planting, tractor and equipment operation
  • Monitor plant growth and health
  • Take appropriate nursery and trial notes, including in field electronic data entry
  • Assist breeder in trial and breeding activities
  • Pollinate, harvest, and mange the crews for these activities
  • Participate in winter nursery pollination and harvest and off site trial activities
  • Equipment and facility maintenance and minor repairs
  • Assist in product development and customer relations
  • Assist station manager in facility planning and activities
  • Support the General Manager and product team.


REPORTING:

The Sweet Corn Research Assistant will report to the Wisconsin Station Manager and Sweet Corn Breeder

REQUIREMENTS:

B.S. Degree or equivalent or Associates degree with 2 years industry experience
