Technical Sales Representative

Location: Rocky Ford, Colorado, USA

Position summary:

As our customer base and marketing efforts expand, we require a talented Technical Sales Representative to support our sales efforts and contribute towards sales and development strategies. Oliver Manufacturing maintains an industry leading reputation for the excellence of our products, solutions, and our ability to understand and meet the specific needs of our customers. This role will be key in supporting that reputation by expanding market awareness of our products and expertise, managing projects and relationships with customers, and bringing critical customer requirements back into the development, production, and marketing processes.

Responsibilities:

This role will comprise two primary areas of responsibility applicable to both the end user customer and out agent distribution base. Project Proposals & Contracts Our customers possess a wide variety of applications, resources, and capabilities. Many of our customers require support and design services in implementing our technology. The technical sales engineer will work with customers and/or agents to understand their facilities, capture their requirements, and prepare project proposals and contracts. Technical Sales and Marketing A critical part of the sales and marketing process involves communicating features and applications effectively, demonstrating our expertise, and interacting with customers and agents’ engineering teams to illustrate our solutions. To this end, the technical sales engineer will work in concert with our sales team to develop marketing materials, build relationships with customers and agents, and act as a company representative at industry events and meetings.

  • Meeting with customers over the phone, email, or on site to assist in technical aspects of business development. Reasonable travel will be necessary.
  • Making technical presentations and demonstrating how our products meet client needs
  • Managing and interpreting customer requirements - speaking with clients to understand, anticipate and meet their needs
  • Generating technical sales proposals and contracts (Statement of Work, Services Proposals)
  • Maintaining records of customer communication and sales activity in our CRM and established internal communication systems
  • Working with the engineering team to ensure development schedules and deliveries are being met
  • Attending and/or participating in trade shows, conferences and other marketing events
  • Searching for new clients who might benefit from company products or services
  • Assisting in development of technical support material for other members of the sales team

  • Excellent interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective and persuasive communication skills.
  • Fluency in reading and writing English in order to understand and interpret written procedures.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and abroad.
  • Fluent Spanish or Portuguese are definite assets

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing, business or related field.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in sales driven environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to: stand, walk, and/or sit, 10 hours/day.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to use a computer keyboard and mouse for 10 hours/day
  • Must be physically able to travel to any region of the world.
