Field Applications Engineer - Full-Time plus Internships

Location: Kansas City Missouri area, USA

Tired of working for a company that requires you to sit in an office all year? Do you enjoy getting out and working with customers directly and fixing problems on site?

We are seeking energetic and mechanically-inclined Field Applications Engineers for our Kansas City office.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Conduct on-site customer service visits, coordinate new and existing service programs, and train new and existing customers. Serves as technical expert on all of the HarvestMaster products.
  • Create training materials and troubleshooting materials for both internal and external users, provide assemble information for user manuals, assists OEM’s and provides phone support on HarvestMaster products.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software related issues over the telephone or email, and issue Return Material Authorization (RMA) numbers when product is to be returned for service.
  • Assist in the test of new software applications and hardware. Document bugs and problems found.
  • Archiving and documenting pertinent information in appropriate databases.


The ability to develop trusting, long-term relationships with clients and prospects is paramount.

Working Hours and Conditions:

  • Generally requires 40 hours per week and approximately 1 week of travel per month except during harvest season when more trips and longer hours are required to get the job done.
  • When traveling, working conditions might be in cold, dusty, hot, and humid areas.
  • Requires on-call (after-hour) service at least 1-week per month during Spring and Fall harvest seasons.
  • This position is located in the Kansas City Area.

Requirements:

  • Requires a BS degree in agriculture related field or Associate’s degree with 3-5 years experience in seed research or farm related operations unless applying for an internship.
  • Project management knowledge and experience is desired.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize and organize.
  • Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • A strong familiarity with PCs and Windows applications along with email and internet communications is required.
  • The incumbent must have strong mechanical skills, a basic knowledge of electronics, and the ability to use basic tools; such as voltmeters and wrenches.
