RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the discovery and development of new plant breeding technologies and techniques
- Manage a team of scientists and research associates of the molecular-breeding and biostatistics departments.
- Develop strategies to optimize breeding procedures, including the establishment and improvement of statistical and molecular-breeding tools
- Organize the implementation of new breeding based technologies into applied plant breeding programs
- Working with an international team of scientists and breeders
- Develop and maintain all budgetary aspects of the technology team
- Promote and maintain scientific interaction with U.S. and European Universities and other scientific research institutions
- Coordinate our interaction with the molecular-breeding, biostatistics, and breeding-technology departments of our parent companies, Limagrain Europe and KWS SAAT AG
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in the field of natural science (agronomy, horticulture, molecular genetics or breeding is preferred)
- Strong knowledge in applied genetics and molecular marker technology / genomics
- High expertise in plant breeding. Strong bases in selection theory, breeding methods, and statistical genetics are preferred.
- Strong strategic-planning ability
- Strong team leadership skills – experience in leading diverse teams
- Excellent communication skills
