Responsibilities:

• Coordinates the Quality Assurance Hybrid Purity Lab Testing Program, including performing routine tests, and the research, development, and implementation of new hybrid purity and variety ID tests for QA, Production, Sales, and breeders.
• Handles outsourced hybrid purity research and testing.
• Supervises technical and non-technical support staff in the Hybridity Lab program and oversees the operation and maintenance of the Hybridity Lab.
• Communicates data and information to appropriate personnel departments on lab hybridity-related issues.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Basic ability and knowledge needed to run an effective hybrid purity lab research and service-testing program.
• Operational understanding of laboratory equipment dealing with protein (isozyme) and DNA molecular markers.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise technical and non-technical support staff.

Education and Experience:

• BS or MS Degree in Agriculture or Biological Sciences.
• Three to five years’ experience in scientific research and laboratory operations, with knowledge of biological chemistry.
• Experience and demonstrated ability in operating and coordinating a hybrid purity program.
