Innovation Specialist

Location: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina and various U.S. locations

JOB DESCRIPTION:

BASF's Innovation Specialist positions, in our Agricultural Division, offers a unique opportunity for you to combine your sales and technical service skills to promote industry leading innovations to growers.

The Innovation Specialist is responsible for driving accelerated sales growth of BASF's new innovations to assigned growers; developing, cultivating and maintaining business relationships with top growers; working effectively with retail partners, as well as, managing relationships with the channel. Innovation Specialists will also actively prospect for new business to expand their customer base.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Drive Accelerated Sales Growth

  • Actively identify and call on growers to communicate the value of BASF's new innovations, focusing on the benefits of using BASF crop protection products and services
  • Develop a value based sales strategy for each customer based on their unique needs, interests and business goals and objectives resulting in a customized solution
  • Meet or exceed innovation sales goals with grower customer base

Innovation Leadership

  • Partner with tech services, area sales teams, retailers and channel partners to be the growers' innovation product expert
  • Develop business strategies and tactics that meet the needs of targeted growers including developing short and long term action plans to anticipate and respond to market dynamics
  • Educate growers on the use of new innovations
  • Position new innovations and communicate value messages to targeted growers

QUALIFICATIONS: - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor Degree in Science (such as Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology), Business or a related field with a minimum of 2 - 5 years sales or technical background within an Agricultural related field
  • Proven success with large growers
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop strong, successful business relationships with customers as well as internal teammates.
  • Ability to manage time and resources effectively to achieve goals
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel overnight/weekly
  • Passionate about making a difference in the agriculture industry

DESIRED:

  • Masters or advanced degree in related field desirable
  • Current Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) or Pest Control Advisor (PCA) qualification desirable or willingness to obtain
