Enza Zaden USA, Inc. in Salinas, CA is looking for a highly motivated, seed industry professional to join our direct sales team.
Position in the organization:Reports to the Area Sales Manager, Direct Sales.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Realize direct sales of Enza Zaden varieties to end clients in the territory.
Summary of responsibilities:
1. Promoting and selling Enza varieties;
2. Account management for a variety or variety group;
3. Key (grower) account management;
4. Making an active contribution to market developments in the territory;
5. Miscellaneous activities.
Brief description of responsibilities and duties:
1. Promoting and selling Enza varieties
- Undertakes visits to and maintains contacts with existing and potential producers with the aim to promote and sell Enza varieties.
- Conducts sales talks, provides product information and negotiates about prices, discount arrangements etc. within the predetermined margins.
2. Account management for a variety or variety group.
- Being a specialist in a certain variety or variety group regarding cultivation, varieties and variety attributes etc. aiming at positioning and selling these varieties to key accounts.
- All this on the basis of prearranged targets, in consultation with the Representatives in the various territories.
3. Key (grower) account management.
- Execute sales strategy, initiate contact with existing and potential customers, identify their needs and sell appropriate varieties to meet those needs.
- Increase sales in respective accounts.
- Prepare sales information for customers.
- Establish buying influences, budgets, and purchasing criteria for assigned accounts.
- Secure and place orders taking into consideration delivery dates and inventory levels for fulfilment.
4. Making an active contribution to market developments in the territory.
- Reports periodically about the development of the product range within the work area and about the opportunities and threats.
- Follows market developments in the field and through professional publications, follows the development of competing varieties and if necessary provides feedback on this to relevant R&D departments.
5. Miscellaneous activities:
- Maintains relations with representatives of farms and grower associations;
- Keeps up-to-date the address files of (prospective) clients in the territory;
- Keeps abreast of (developments in) the Enza product range;
- Contributes to compiling sales budgets in the territory;
- Provides detailed seed production forecasts.
Profile:
Education / knowledge
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of relevant work experience in sales and marketing within the agricultural industry.
Skills
- Professional, assertive and clear communicative skills (verbal and written), including active listening skills.
- Can function independently, is flexible and creative, and has excellent sales skills (gains trust, establishes a business objective, identifies customer needs, explores solutions, develops action plans, and overcomes objections through negotiation).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

- Sometimes works under pressure outdoors under varying climate conditions.
- Makes frequent and/or long trips by car.
- Some international travel required.
