Ernst Benary of America, Inc., a global leader in flower seeds and development of horticultural products such as Annual Bedding Plants, Perennials, and Pot Plants has a position for a Greenhouse Grower Manager at our Watsonville location.

The Greenhouse Grower Manager plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates daily activities for the research and development department. Primary focus is growing and testing flower seeds. This position includes the daily supervision of personnel and materials management for the operation.

Essential Job Functions

• Key leadership position will manage growing to maintain the highest level of quality product
• Growing Pack Trials to support the company in Sales efforts
• Direct staff regarding planting, growing and producing breeder seed
• Implement spray programs and submit monthly use reports to county
• Manage head house/greenhouse/outdoor growing areas to maximize production in order to gather Technical information to support our products
• Purchase of raw materials such as soil, fertilizer, disease control chemicals necessary for growing
• Manage expenses including Capital Expenditures.
• Ensure Injury and Illness Prevention program is up to date with Company-wide policies and procedures
• Maintain Safety programs and other aspects of regulatory compliance
• Oversee and advise management on all repairs and maintenance projects
• Work closely with all employees and office staff to ensure efficiencies

Requirements

• Ability to interact and communicate with others and create a team approach
• Must have strong managerial skills and be able to work with a multitude of personalities
• Must possess the ability to multitask in  a fast paced environment
• Need to be a detail oriented team player with strong organizational and communication skills
• Must have prior greenhouse experience and understand the complexities and challenges of such
• A California Pesticide License will be required for this position
• Knowledge of computer Green House Environment systems
• Bilingual in English/Spanish
• Some travel is required

Education

• BS in horticulture or related fields and 5 years of Grower and Industry experience
